Day 7: 21 days to better relationships

Topic: Fruit of the Spirit (3)

Text: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (Galatians 5:22, ESV)

After love we have joy.

Who wants to stay around someone with no joy! The joyless person is spiteful, bitter. And we are not supposed to be bitter.

The Bible says that if we allow bitterness to spring up, it will cause defilement, it will corrupt (Hebrews 12:15).

The bitterness you keep in you will rob you of your joy, it will not just damage you but many others will be affected. In the same vein, the joy you radiate makes you like a magnet. Bitterness is a strong repellent.

Nothing should happen to would rob you of your joy. But that will be is difficult if your joy is sourced from things external.

Our wrong perspective can distort external events in our minds making the negative look bigger than everything else, thereby robbing us of our joy.

When you fall into divers trial, you are told to count it all joy (James 1:2-4). That is not the natural reaction, it is the supernatural reaction as we are supernatural people.

Joy in the Holy Spirit is described as a sign of being in the kingdom of God (Romans 14:17); there is nothing like it.

And it is Jesus who has been anointed with the oil of joy above His fellows, because He loves righteousness and hates wickedness (Hebrews 1:7-8).

Loving righteousness and hating wickedness (being in sync with God), makes the fruit of joy to flourish.

That fruit is called the joy of the Lord, and it is derived from who God is, from the God who says that He sits in heaven and LAUGHS at the pretentious agitations of mortal men (Psalm 2:4).

Joy comes the fact that we are seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). And the Bible says that in the presence of God there is fullness of joy and in his right hand there are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

We need the eyes of our understanding to be opened to see from the heavenly perspective (Ephesians 1:18). It is clear that what you are “seeing” will determine if you will be joyful or not.

Get ready for a joy invasion. That is what it means for joy to be a fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of walking according to our new reality in Christ by His Spirit.

Action: pray that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened to see from the heavenly

Declaration: I am married to joy
